The Development of Music
2013-17819
The genre of the first couple of songs played in class is orchestral. This type of music really amazes me. An orchestra is composed of the conductor and numerous people playing 4 kinds of musical instruments, namely woodwind, percussion, string and brass. What astounds me so much is the musical knowledge of the conductor. In an orchestral piece, he should know the parts of every single instrument involved and how their sounds should synchronize. His control over dozens (maybe hundreds?) of musical geniuses makes him an even bigger musical genius.
The next genre of music played in class is rock. Rock and roll has never been one of my interests, but I appreciate it nonetheless. As a frustrated guitar player, I find electric guitar solos very cool. The drums and bass accompaniment together with the screaming/singing vocalist provides such a lively vibe to all the listeners of rock music. It is almost impossible to bob your head together with the music and just enjoy the show.
To conduct an orchestra and play an orchestral piece takes a lot of effort. One has to compose every symphony played and synchronize them beautifully. Rock music takes less effort to create than orchestral songs, but it is still more than that of some songs today. Some of the music nowadays take little or no effort at all to create. Just with the press of a button, a song can be formed and performing it takes as much effort as creating it (one press of a button!). Although this advancement in technology has made song composing available to a wider audience, it has allowed people who don't know much about music to excel in the music industry. Music has turned to be less astounding for me because of this kind of songs.
