The Bride of Frankenstein - Reaction Paper

Where do you place the line between what is morally good or morally bad?

Scientists’ unending curiosity and hunger for knowledge never fails to amaze me. And, they will not stop until they get the answer that would satisfy that hunger, even if they would cross the boundary thought by the society as morally bad. Again, there is a fine line in science that would tell you when to stop. The movie, The Bride of Frankenstein, showed how a scientist dared on making life out of the dead, making a mate for the Monster who survived the fire.

In the movie, Frankenstein’s monster really lived up to his was destructive and a killer. But what’s funny is that, on the latter part of the film, he had a change of heart, showed its other side, by killing the scientist that created him, his bride and himself for the monster knew that it was for the better.

Let’s go back to the question, where can be the line between what is morally good and morally bad be placed? In our country, the Catholic Church is, undoubtedly, the one with the power. It can sway the society towards them with just a word. It dictates what is morally good and what is morally bad

What am I trying to prove here? I am for scientific innovations and all, technology that would make our lives easier but I should say that creating life from a dead body is something overboard. Not only was it rude for the dead person because his body was used without his consent, but also it shows how ridiculous it is to create life using the dead. Playing God. I find this process of “making life” cruel because this person was already dead to begin with and when it was given another life, it then became a test subject, an experimental project.

This is, for me, an abuse of science and experimenting using a body that is supposed to be resting in peace immoral. Even I cannot say where the boundaries should lie. I know it was immoral because, when growing up, the difference between good and bad was taught to me. Yes, morality is a subjective discourse.

The question that should be raised here is that, "Can science and morality mutually co-exist". Because as every minute pass, science continues to evolve and the debate in the morality will, I guess, always be existent.
